Jakub Cigán

I’m interested in religious conversion linked to autobiographical memory and remembering, social and psychological dynamics of becoming a member.

I graduated in the study of religion at Masaryk University, where I also obtained the Ph.D. I focus on field research of the affiliation process (e.g., conversion) to religious groups and its social and psychological dynamics. My main areas of interest are the social functions of autobiographical memory and remembering in the process of affiliation in the context of the narrative, situated cognition, costly signaling and group hierarchy.
